Busy busy busy

The last 2 weeks have flown past. I’ve been working pretty much constantly, pulling 12 hour working days almost every day to get my project report towards completion. Today I am happy to announce IT IS FINISHED!

Well almost. I’d be happy handing it in now, I’ve just got my army of proof readers on it. I’ll blog about it later and attach the actual project when the deadline has passed so I don’t get accused of cheating or encouraging plagirism or something. Over 12000 words died in order to create this beautiful 56 page report (40 recommended, 60 max), and I’m pretty over the moon about having this much done when the deadline is on Wednesday. My supervisor has had a look at it and seems reasonably happy or so disgusted he can’t possible give any more advice.

I’ll just be glad at this stage to have it over and done with. Not meaning to sound overdramatic, but I feel like the marathon runner who is smelly, cold and wet and can see the finish line and feels the comfort of knowing it will soon be over!

Another big piece of news is that I have been offered a software engineering job, which I have accepted. I’m waiting before announcing where and when and what it is until I (hopefully!) get the 2:1 required for the job. Suffice to say, I need to move from Edinburgh to take the job. If you actually know me, feel free to ask about it, I’m just not sure about making it public to the interblag yet.

Lindsay turned 20 the other day so I organised the worlds smallest surprise party with 4 of her friends and gave her a portable DVD player. I find it a funny bit of technology, the speakers and screen are far too small for my liking, but I guess it is portable. She seems to love it. My presents to her are usually pieces of technology I would never buy for myself, and as a result I am nervous about their reception but they seem to go down well as she never really buys any technology for herself.

Other than seeing Lindsay, working on my project, the Friday afternoon pub session, attending lectures and going to church, my life is devoid of activity. It’s gonna be nice when I actually have some time to work out more (I am fat: 10 1/2 stone!), do some programming for fun and actually socialise again. Generally, I’m looking forward to the 9-5 job lifestyle next year. It suits me far better as I’m not tired when I come in from my day, and the seperation of work and home is a lot less stressful than the continual pressure and guilt of university.

Bah, enough moaning. I’m lucky to be at university, I’m just looking forward to using the stuff I have learnt. It is late now so I shall realign myself horizontally. Night.
