the internet is leaking

YayJAX

I got the 4th year project I wanted!
Basically, its taking some work I did last term, using just server-side technologies, and making it shiny, and have a more usuable interface with AJAX, whilst allowing graceful degradation for older browsers or text-based ones.

The main difference about AJAX applications I’ll be exploiting is the asyncronous server polling, allowing a continous workflow rather than “Click…Load…Work…Click…Load…” etc. Also added into the mix is the use of the Jetty 6 web server for continuation, allowing, in theory (if I get it working!) the user to be able to take a snapshot of a session, effectively saving it on the server, and resuming it on next login.

I’m quite excited, and feel that I may play around with the use of SVGs also, as another XML based medium.

In other news, procrastination is currently beating the life out of study in the war of my time expenditure. I feel not turning on the computer may be a good plan tomorrow, until I’ve got a fair bit under my belt.

I really should be in bed already.
